Introductory Classes and Sustainment Courses
Balancing Theory and Applications
Training packages tailored to your specific needs...

Vibration Solutions’ Balancing Theory & Applications course is a 2 day seminar covering the fundamentals of rotor balancing theory with manufacturing applications. The goal of this course is to provide an introduction to balancing’s governing principles. Whether an attendee is an engineer concerned with rotor or tooling design, quality control personnel dealing with reliability issues, machine maintenance personnel or, an operator interested in the principles and importance behind the operation, this course strives to offer benefits for all.

While there is some exposure to basic vibration theory and an explanation of “flexible” rotors, this course focuses primarily on “rigid” rotors (rotors which do not change shape with speed).

Some of the topics include:
• Definition of terms • Correlating CG displacement with unbalance
• The reasons for balancing • Tooling design considerations
• The balancing machine as a measuring tool • Balancing machine design principles
• Causes of unbalance • Testing balancing machines
• Correction methods • Transfer of the angle to the rotor
• Units of unbalance • Plane separation
• The types of unbalance defined and their associated motions • Measurement of amount and location of unbalance
• Unbalance and rotational speed • Balancing tolerances

Training packages are extremely flexible and can be modified based on:
• Time / work considerations
• Theoretical (for engineers) vs. hands-on (for operators)
• Amount of vibration & balancing content
• Brand of equipment being used or considered
Training packages can be from a half-day session to 4 days based on content and number of participants. Routine training programs can also be established on an annual or semi-annual basis, to regularly address balancing issues, improve skills and maximize proficiency.
Course information is delivered in a variety of methods. On-site training seminars are developed to provide hands-on delivery and demonstration. Course material is delivered in the classroom and electronically.
